Reasons for Faith | Hamilton

Reasons for Faith is a monthly Thinking Matters gathering, run in association with Lighthouse Christian Fellowship. We explore topics that are directly relevant to fulfilling the call of 1 Peter 3:15-16, which says:

In your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

Apologetics can sometimes be a bit heavy duty but our aim is to be intensely practical and to make the presentations and discussions suitable for people who have a beating heart for the gospel and who want to grow their understanding specifically in the area of secular challenges to Christian faith.

We make arguments, but we are not argumentative.

It is tremendously faith-building to discover just how strong the arguments for biblical Christianity really are. The apostle Peter encourages us to always be prepared to give an answer regarding the reason for our hope in Christ. In these monthly meetings we will discuss and learn many such answers.

Todd Funk, National Director of Speaker Development for Thinking Matters, will present The Testimony of the Heavens. Using some of the best images available, this multi-media rich presentation will inspire wonder and build faith in the God of creativity whose word is true. Todd was previously a high school science teacher, and has spoken extensively throughout New Zealand, the USA, Ukraine, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.

Time and venue: 7 – 9pm Monday 25th November, 2019,

at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship, 703 Wairere Drive, Chedworth.

Todd‘s messages, teaching and ministry have powerfully impacted people of all ages on several continents. He has spoken for Thinking Matters at our Confident Christianity conferences and Unshaken Youth & Young Adult Conference and has been involved in men’s ministries and accountability groups for over 15 years.

Worldview in Conflict: the Cosmic Battle for Our Minds

Presented by Rodney Lake

In this presentation, Rodney highlights the great war between the truth claims of God and the lies and deceptions of the world. He introduces the concept of ‘Worldview’ and contrasts the two greatest worldviews in New Zealand today: Materialism/Naturalism (roughly 35% of the population) and Christianity (roughly 33% of the population) – showing that while the first is unliveable, the second gives profound answers to all the deepest questions of life.
